Another Long Run, another Personal distance record!!!
I woke up at 4:45am to meet Caitlin for our long run. I was dreaming about school and generally really anxious about the run.
Pre-run fuel was half a bagel with Almond Butter:
Tired of seeing this breakfast yet? Sorry, it works!
I packed Luna Moons and Sport Beans:
And 64 oz. of water…
The first two miles it was just me and Caitlin. It was nice, easy, but I was still waking up.
Miles 2-8 were with Kelly! It was nice to catch up with her and chat for a while.
Miles 9-13 Caitlin and I were on our own again. We ran to Ryan’s apartment and surprised her!! We were looking for reasons to stall, clearly.
Miles 13-16.5 This is when things got TOUGH! Running on barely any sleep, I hit the wall. I felt like crap and did NOT want to finish. Caitlin dragged my butt along and was really encouraging the whole way. I could not have done it alone! Thanks, Caitlin!!!
There was a lot of screaming and cursing the last few miles. It hurt like hell, but I did it!
Run Stats:
- Distance: 16.5 miles
- Time: 2 hours, 53 minutes
- Average Pace: 10:28 min/mile
SO GLAD THAT’S OVER!
I’m not normally hungry right after a long run, but today I was ravenous. I made the most filling breakfast ever and it was awesome.
I started with a whole container of Oikos Vanilla yogurt, topped with 3/4 cup granola and banana. It was too full to eat it like this, so I dumped it in a bowl.
Plus, the other half of my bagel, with almond butter and bananas.
My whole body hurts!! After breakfast, I changed clothes and got in the ice.
After last week’s ice bath, I found it funny that so many people were shocked about it. I wanted to make a video showing that it really isn’t that bad, and my sister used her movie making skills to turn it into an epic film.
HAHA… Enjoy.
<3 MegaNerd

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! ahahahah I died laughing when Carmina Burana started playing when you got in. Epic indeed.
That bagel and granola-y yogurt looks like a perfect end to such a long morning… i think I’d be scared to dip into an ice bath haha.

The music made that video. I dread ice baths…it takes me a solid 5 minutes before I even sit down. I have to wait until my feet go numb first. You clearly have more willpower than me!
Hahahaha… loved this. especially the music, and the last few seconds.
congrats on completing 16.5! i’m surprised people thought taking an ice bath was weird – the college I went to was Division 1 and the athletes took ice baths all the time. It’s what serious athletes do!
HA funny video! Congrats on the great run
MEGAN! I ♥ you! Too funny…and for the record, I tried the ol’ ice bath out Sunday. It was fabulous. Thank you for leading me to the light.
HAHAHAH!!! Hilarious! Good to see you two this morning!
great job on the run! the video is great
jenna
Your video is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the movie “Stick It” showed me it was normal. Haha, I LOVE that video..hillarious. When I start running longer then..oh…3 miles, I may need you to be a running buddy! You’re awesome, congrats on your PDR!!
LOLOL that music is great
The ONE time I took an ice bath my boyfriend made it for me and it took me about 15 minutes to lower myself into it haha I’m such a sissy
How many miles do you run before you take a ice bath!? I am just starting to run, and am doing the 60 seconds running 90 seconds walking… You girls inspire me to one day run 16 miles!!!! Awesome work!
I started doing them after the half marathons, so I guess anything longer than that, or in general if I can’t walk after!
I think it’s funny that people are freaking out about the ice bath…When I ran XC and track in college we would all go sit in the training room’s “chill pool” after long practices. It was a jacuzzi complete with jets, only filled with freezing water. I miss it so much!!! I’d stick my legs in for 15 min’s if I ran anything more than 4 miles (hard).
That was one of the most epic and greatest videos I’ve seen on a blog!
I’d already seen the video on healthytippingpoint. :p You’re a brave girl, I could never do that!
Good job on your run!
LMAO brave girl
CONGRATS ON THE RUN! You’ve surpassed most runners. Good pace too! I wish I was running Disney with you girls! You guys look like fun to run with
Loved the video! Hillarious! Good on you for taking the ice bath.
Hey Megan! I enjoy your blog!! That video was great! I too am an ice bath believer. When my husband and I were training for our marathon a year ago, we took an ice bath after any run longer than 10 miles. I was never once sore (well, except after the actual marathon) and did not have any injuries.
And you’re right – it only hurts for the first few minutes! We always did it together, fully clothed! LOL I know my family though we were crazy when we headed to the bathroom with 7 bags of ice after we finished our race
OMG that is HILARIOUS with the music in the video!! Love it
Props to your sis
That video was quite entertaining! I remember watching cheerleaders do that on TV (the super competitive, intense cheerleaders) and I was cringing at the sight. You are a champ!
PS cute bathroom
Congrats on the run!! The video cracked me up. I love ice baths!
I laughed watching this video on Caitlin’s blog. You are so brave to do this!
Congrats on 16.5 miles!! This video is awesome — you’re hilarious. Love the blog
I definitely have to check out the video once I’m at a computer that will let me. You are my hero! Congrats on the new PDR!
Great job on the 16.5 this morning! And I love the video. When the music came in I literally laughed out loud. Great!
LOVED the video!! I used to take ice baths when I still skated and some of my friend (who still skate) still do.
congrats on running 16.5 miles thats impressive!
I was about to ask why your tongue was green, but then I saw the green jelly beans!
You are one brave chica. The closest I ever got to taking an ice bath was to fill the tub with cold water. And then I couldn’t deal and put in the hot.
hahahahaha. The music is in sync perfectly! GREAT job on the run, congrats!
this totally made my evening. hahahahahaha that music, too freakin hilarious!
great job
I already commented on Cailtin’s post, but I loved the ice bath video. Way braver than I would be.
Also, I think the miles that hurt the most end up meaning the most.
Haha love the video, especially the music!! Great job on 16.5!! How’s you like those Luna Moons?? I’ve been wanting to try those!
LOL – that video is cracking me up – love what your sister did with adding in the song
LOL that music is ExcELLENT!!!
i’ve never done an ice bath but maybe i’ll have to try next long run!
hahahahaha that definitely made my night
