This afternoon I spent a LOT of time thinking about running. It might sound strange, but it’s true.
I thought about how far I have come in the past two years, about my goals- short and long term, and really wondering what it is that repeatedly draws me into the sport. I thought about what I have done wrong (like overtraining and not eating properly), and what I have done right (like speedwork, etc).
If I posted everything I wanted to say I would seriously have a novel on this post. I will try to share it in little bits as I go. :D
Let’s just say, I’m really excited!
Am I a crazy person, or does thinking about running really excite you? I don’t know if its my competitive nature, or what, but I love it.
Now Onto Today’s Eats…
For 2nd lunch (I had a PBJ sandwich for a morning “snack”) I made an scrambled egg wrap.
I scrambled one whole egg, 2 egg whites, 1/2 tomato, shredded spinach, and about a Tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese.
Once it was good and brown (I like them slightly over cooked) I put it into a spinach Flat out wrap and put it back in the pan to crisp it up.
It was light but satisfying.
My first snack around 3 was a Chocolate Brownie mini CLIF bar. Jason bought a big pack of these for me at Target (how thoughtful). Look how cute it is, it’s smaller than a deck of cards!
Tastes just as good as the real thing, but its around 1/3 of the size. Perfect for a mid afternoon snack or before an early morning run.
Around 5:00, I munched on an apple while I answered some e-mails.
For dinner, I considered having soup and a side salad. By the time I made the “side salad” it was pretty massive, and my dad’s baked chicken just came out of the oven. Change of plans…
Chicken Salad!
My salad consisted of:
- spinach
- sliced carrots
- 1/2 tomato
- slices of cucumber
- balsamic vinegar
- 3 oz (ish) of Baked chicken with panko crumbs! YUMM!
And an unhealthy side of mac n cheese… I kept the portion under control.
Time to go call my man! I won’t get to see him until Saturday this week! BOO.
Goodnight!

Yes, I think about running ALOT. I think about it when I wake up, when I'm at school, and most of all, when I'm running haha. I think I think about it so much mainly because I'm a new running and am working on increasing my mileage for a possible half marathon. Maybe after I have been doing it for a while it will become more automatic and I won't obsess over it so much. But for now I don't mind that I do!
During my morning run I was thinking about all those things. Especially why I run. I get that question all the time. I started listing the reasons why I run and like you said I could write a novel!
i think it's wonderful that you have such a passion for running!! I feel the same way about yoga -- it's my happy place :)
what a cute little mini bar!
I get really excited about running too! I love to go on runnersworld.com and read the forum posts and articles.
I don't know if I just wasn't observant before or what, but is the picture at the top of your blog new? It's very cute and original!
And yes, I get super excited about running too!! Even seeing a runner running around town, or in a commercial on TV, gets me pumped for my next run! :)
I do a lot of thinking about running too! I have to because that's what I plan my day around! Ha! And it really excites me to think about it too:)
No you are not crazy one bit! I think about running a lot too. I think it's a bit addicting but in a good way.
Running is such a high and begins to consume you when you reach the point of enjoyment and bliss. I can't wait to hear all about your views on running. I'm sure you have come so far and I am so happy to hear that you have reached a healthy and happy point in your running life.
Take care and have a wonderful day love!
I have never seen the mini cliff bars...I will have to be on the look out for them. I have a hard time stopping at half of the regular sized ones!
I also think about running a lot and when I first started running in December it was all I would talk about!
I also like my eggs overcooked and brown :) Looks like a yummy chicken salad!
